Six months ago, I discovered that dying to a Smash Trap with the Ankh will make you drop your held item without removing it from the item box in the top-left of the screen. If you then press the switch button to cycle through bombs and ropes, cycling back to your held item will duplicate whatever is in the item box. You will be holding a cloned item, and the real item will be where you died to the Smash Trap, so now you have two of that item. This is not very useful, as you need to use the Ankh... Except earlier today, I discovered that Smash Trap contact damage is all it takes to drop your item while keeping it in the item box. This means that the Hedjet can be collected and the Sceptre can be duplicated, letting one Sceptre be used to open the City of Gold while keeping the other. The problem with this is that Smash Traps deal 10 damage per frame of contact. You need enough health to survive at least 1 frame of damage. If you can get hit by the Smash Trap and live, this lets you duplicate the Sceptre. It is worth noting that only items that appear in the item box in the HUD can be duplicated this way. Idols cannot be duplicated for an example. The Barrier Emitter (forcefield) that appears in the Psychic Presence level feeling can also be used to duplicate items in a similar way. Notably, pots can be duplicated using a Barrier Emitter, which should allow infinite score. This run got $200,000 in 15:06.78, so I can submit it to the Sun Room Unlock category on MossRanking here: https://mossranking.com/cat.php?cat=631 Chapters: 00:00 - Mines 01:35 - Lush 02:20 - Enter Black Market 03:21 - Ice Caves 08:12 - Hedjet, Temple 14:46 - Sceptre Duplication 16:07 - Olmec 17:34 - End
