Centennial 13er Mt Buckskin Summit Hike, Mosquito Range, Colorado, May 2026

This was my second attempt for Mt Buckskin, elevation 13,872’, the last remaining Centennial 13er for me in the Tenmile/Mosquito Range. We drove all the way to the road closure in March this year and decided to turn back due to overcast sky and high wind. This time around wind was still blowing around at 20mph but conditions were much better than last time. Even with added 3 miles road walk due to construction closure, this hike was relatively moderate with 7 miles/2700ft gain, although the last mile picks up quite a bit of elevation with lots of talus hopping. There are two summits separated by about 1/4 mile. The true summit according to SummitPost is the east one, but the west summit is much more interesting IMO with an actual summit cairn/register and better views. Highly recommend tagging both if you attempt this peak. Centennial 13er #18 for me
