The German Empire fell in November 1918, but the Hohenzollern family did not. This is the full story of what happened to the Kaiser's dynasty after the empire collapsed. Kaiser Wilhelm II spent twenty-three years in Dutch exile at Huis Doorn, chopping thousands of trees while the Allies demanded a trial that never happened. His sons split over Hitler, one marching with the Nazis at Potsdam, another, Prince Louis Ferdinand, who had worked on Ford's assembly lines in Detroit, drifting toward the resistance. In 1945 Stalin, Truman and Churchill met at Cecilienhof, the crown prince's own house, and divided Europe from its rooms. This documentary follows the family from the midnight train to the Dutch border, through the Versailles indictment, the funeral that terrified Hitler, the Cold War expropriations and the restitution battles after reunification, all the way to the Hohenzollerns of today. #history #royalty #dynasty #documentary CHAPTERS 00:00 Intro 01:24 THE MIDNIGHT TRAIN 05:13 THE WOODCUTTER OF DOORN 09:00 THE TRIAL THAT NEVER CAME 12:38 THE FAMILY THAT BACKED HITLER 15:49 THE PRINCE AND THE PLOTTERS 19:41 STALIN MOVES IN 23:25 THE HOUSE THAT OUTLIVED ITS EMPIRE
