Here, the first character chosen would be designated "Leader" and would be the only one allowed to do their Level 2/3 SDM, called the Leader DM. Also, it introduced us to then protagonist Ash Crimson. Athena wise, she is wearing perhaps her most frilly outfit to date, a full blown idol's stage dress and boots, and for the first time, she's not part of the Psycho Solder's team due to Chin taking Kensou to train his Dragon Spirit in this game. Instead, Athena's partners are Hinako Suijou (the sumo girl from KOF 2000) and newcomer Malin (who I personally miss). In this game there are two arcade paths, dictated by if you use a super attack to defeat Kusanagi or not. Both are on display here, with blue Athena taking the Adel line while red Athena takes the Mukai route. One thing I completely forgot about is that the AI in this game is rather aggressive by nature, and never seems to stop moving or attacking. Nevertheless, a Idol and Psycho Soldier's work is never done. Next video in the challenge: KOF XI.
