The Ashitaka is a Japanese Premium Tier VII battleship. She is based on the planned Amagi-class battlecruiser design and is best known for her powerful 410 mm guns and excellent 30-knot speed, but she has relatively weak protection and AA. ⚓ Main characteristics Characteristic Ashitaka Tier VII Nation 🇯🇵 Japan Type Premium Battleship Hit Points ~59,400 Main guns 5 × 2 410 mm Total guns 10 Gun range 19.88 km Reload 31 seconds 180° turret traverse 45 seconds AP maximum damage 12,600 per shell HE maximum damage 6,500 per shell HE fire chance 30% Maximum speed 30 knots Torpedo protection 25% damage reduction Main weakness Weak armor AA Poor The current World of Warships Wiki lists 10 × 410 mm guns, 31-second reload, 19.88 km range and 1.8 sigma. 🔥 Firepower — ★★★★★ This is the Ashitaka's biggest advantage. 10 × 410 mm guns give her an enormous broadside for Tier VII. Her AP shells can deal 12,600 maximum damage each. The 410 mm caliber gives her excellent penetration against many Tier VI–VII battleships. She has a 1.8 sigma, giving her respectable accuracy for a Japanese battleship. HE has 6,500 maximum damage and a 30% fire chance. Best use: primarily AP against broadside battleships and cruisers. Switch to HE when facing heavily angled targets or destroyers. 🏎️ Mobility — ★★★★☆ The Ashitaka can reach 30 knots, which is very good for a Tier VII battleship. This allows you to: Change flanks relatively quickly. Keep distance from stronger opponents. Retreat from dangerous situations. Exploit openings on the enemy flank. However, her turning circle is fairly large, so you should plan your movements early. 🛡️ Armor & survivability — ★★☆☆☆ This is where the Ashitaka pays for her tremendous firepower. Her armor is considered weak, and the ship has a large battlecruiser-style hull. The biggest danger is showing your broadside to enemy battleships. Avoid: Sailing flat broadside. Staying stationary. Fighting at close range against several battleships. Assuming your 410 mm guns mean you can tank everything. Instead, use your speed and range to control engagements. ✈️ Anti-aircraft — ★☆☆☆☆ AA defense is one of Ashitaka's major weaknesses. The current ship information specifically lists low AA defense efficiency as a disadvantage. If enemy aircraft carriers are present, staying near friendly ships can provide valuable additional AA protection. 👁️ Concealment Ashitaka has high detectability, another disadvantage noted in current statistics. Therefore, she is generally better suited to mid- to long-range battleship combat rather than trying to sneak into close range. 🎯 Recommended playstyle Ashitaka = high firepower + high speed + weak protection. A good battle plan is: Start at medium/long range. Look for enemy cruisers showing broadside. Use AP against broadside battleships. Keep moving and avoid exposing your full broadside. Use your 30-knot speed to reposition. Push closer only after enemy battleship firepower has been reduced. Don't rely on your AA to protect you from aircraft. ⭐ Overall Firepower: 9/10 Mobility: 8/10 Armor: 4/10 AA: 2/10 Concealment: 4/10 Overall: 7/10 The Ashitaka is a glass-cannon style Tier VII battleship. If you can keep your armor angled and make good use of those ten 410 mm guns, she can deliver devastating salvos. Her biggest mistake is trying to play like a heavily armored battleship.
