Blitzen River Trail on the Flanks of Steens Mountain Oregon

Please join me on our first of many hikes on the 750-mile Oregon Desert Trail, this section along the lovely Blitzen River on the flanks of Steens Mountain. We enjoyed a sunrise drive south from Burns to the trailhead, and stopped to savor some great cowboy coffee at the charmingly rustic, very cool, Blitzen Coffee House in historic Frenchglen. It was such a treat we stopped at Blitzen Coffee again after the hike.
