One of the most memorable stories associated with Chitradurga is the legendary bravery of Onake Obavva, whose courage in defending the fort has become an unforgettable part of Karnataka's history. The fort is also home to several ancient temples, including Hidimbeshwara Temple, Sampige Siddeshwara Temple, Ekanathamma Temple, Phalguneshwara Temple, Gopalakrishna Temple, Hanuman Temple and Nandi Temple. Another remarkable feature of Chitradurga Fort is its traditional rainwater harvesting and storage system, which helped the fort withstand long periods of siege.
