To its west and south are the Mansarovar and Rakshastal lakes. Many important rivers originate from here - Brahmaputra , Indus , Sutlej etc. It is considered sacred in Hindu Sanatan Dharma . This shrine is also known as Astapad , Ganaparvat and Rajatgiri . This is a pilgrimage to the 6,638 m (21,778 ft) high peak of Kailash covered with snow and its adjoining Mansarovar . And this region is called Manaskhand. According to mythology, Lord Rishabhdev attained Nirvana here. Shri Bharateshwar Swami Mangaleshwar Shri Rishabhdev Bhagwan's son Bharata conquered it at the time of Digvijay. Arjuna had conquered this region during the Digvijaya effort of the Pandavas . In the Rajasuya Yagya of Yudhishthira , the king of this region gave the best horses, gold, gems and yak .Black and white chamfers made of tails were presented.
