From the new split with Ødemark: https://virkelighedsfjern.bandcamp.co...
On this split you get two new additions to the Danish doom scene. They both come with a new take on the genre, which if one were to find a common feature could be described as post-rock sounding. With Ødemark it's like being slowly pulled down into a sacrificial bog, while Solens Folk is the sound of being locked in hitherto unknown catacombs under Copenhagen.
Solens Folk is the collaboration between the doom band GAIA and multi-artist Jakob Miehe Sørensen. It is a collaboration that has been going on for many years, but with the release of the split with Ødemark, they are presenting studio-recorded material for the first time. The band themselves describe their music as existing in the space between Reverend Bizarre and Einstürzende Neubauten. Minimal riffs and tonal compositions together with ambient sound surfaces and harsh feedback lay the foundation for Jakob's fierce feverish delusions. The mixing of this side of the split was done by the now more or less permanent Virkelighedsfjern collaborator Joakim Wölm, who has managed to highlight the disturbing mood of the tracks.

Ødemark explores the void. The emptiness in the world around and the emptiness in themselves.
With a minimalist musical expression, they cut to the bone, both with compositions, instrumentation and lyrics. Created by two childhood friends Ødemark starts from funeral doom, focuses on the genre's ambient parts and ends up in an almost post-rock place. The lyrics on this side of the split consist of the thoughts that arose during a bad depression. The music expresses the melancholy a depression traps one in, only interrupted by outbursts of anger.
