Canada just certified the fastest business jet since the Concorde — and it's only one piece of a quiet aerospace strategy most people haven't noticed yet. The Bombardier Global 8000, built and certified by Transport Canada, entered service in December 2025 with a top speed of Mach 0.95 and a range of 8,000 nautical miles — enough to fly London to Singapore non-stop. It also holds the lowest cabin altitude of any aircraft in production at 2,691 feet while cruising at 41,000 feet. That's just the start. In Longueuil, Quebec, Pratt & Whitney Canada is ground-testing a hybrid-electric propulsion system pairing a one-megawatt electric motor with a thermal engine, targeting a 30% fuel-efficiency gain on regional turboprop missions, with first flight expected in 2027. In Ontario, Horizon Aircraft's Cavorite X7 — a fan-in-wing hybrid-electric VTOL aircraft — has a Letter of Intent for up to 100 aircraft with Australian operator V-Star, a deal valued at up to $600 million. De Havilland Canada has resumed production of the DHC-515 amphibious firefighter, with six European countries already under contract for 22 aircraft. And Volatus Aerospace's Canary RPAS just became the first system to meet Transport Canada's beyond-visual-line-of-sight safety requirements in populated areas. None of these are concepts or renderings — they're certified, funded, and shipping.
