For many years, The Ocean Club was Salvador Sango's musical home: a unique cultural venue situated only metres from the Atlantic Ocean. Sadly, the advancing sea eventually claimed much of the surrounding land, bringing an end to one of Lagos' most distinctive live-music spaces. THE ADVICE OF SANGO' is Salvador Sango's signature 'Yoruba Heritage' Afrofusion composition, adapted from a traditional Yoruba chant and reimagined as an original work blending Yoruba musical traditions with Afro-Cuban, rock, jazz and Afro-Latin influences. The title refers to Sango', the Yoruba deity associated with thunder, justice and the protection of the underprivileged. Through parable and metaphor, the song reflects on wisdom, perseverance and the consequences of foolhardiness.
