This poem was written by Nirala in in the 18th Ank of the Hindi Magazine 'Matwala' in 1923 when he was in its editorial team and the famous Prose writer Shiv Pujan Sahai was the editor . This poem is much famous for its sheer beauty and continues to be very popular specially among youth. Whe Nirala was staying in Allahabad he would often attend gatherings of students in the Allahabad university campus and all the students would shout looking at him 'Juhi ki Kali' . It is love poem a sort of 'Ballad ' where a bud of the flower 'Juhi' is sleeping on a leaf eyes closed and her lover 'Pawan' the wind had gone to far off land but was missing her and decides to reach her immediately . He crosses forests , lakes , mountains , rivers and gardens and reaches her . But she was sleeping . He first kisses her but she is in deep sleep with her large curved eyes closed . He then shakes her branch repeatedly . Dhe gets up shocked and startled . Looks around and on seeing her lover smiles lovingly and they both unite and are happy . It is a symbolic tale popular still.
