Ito Momoka | What AKB48’s New Era Looks Like

AKB48 has chosen Ito Momoka as center again. After leading Nagori Zakura, the 19th generation member returns as the solo center of Suki ish - making her the first AKB48 member in 12 years to receive two consecutive solo centers. But this video isn’t really about whether Momoka is “the next Acchan” or “the next Mayuyu”. It’s about what her rise says about AKB48 in 2026. From the very traditional idol appeal of Momoka herself, to Suki ish openly looking back at classics like Heavy Rotation, AKB seems to be figuring out how to move forward without pretending its past never happened. Old idol logic. New generation. New way of being AKB48.
