Padraig remains committed to the anti-Treaty republican cause, while Liam serves with the emerging Irish Free State's National Army. As political division turns into armed conflict, the brothers find themselves separated not only by distance, but by uniforms, loyalties and competing visions of Ireland's future. Their fictional journey unfolds against the backdrop of real historical events, from the Anglo-Irish Treaty and the outbreak of the Civil War to the fighting in Cork, the death of Michael Collins, the guerrilla phase of the conflict and the eventual end of the military campaign in 1923. More than a story of battles and politics, this documentary explores the human cost of civil war—families divided, former comrades becoming opponents, communities fractured, and relationships tested by events larger than any one person.
