This Game Had Kameos Before Mortal Kombat 1...

The newest and largest addition to Mortal Kombat 1’s gameplay is arguably the Kameo system, which gives the player a separate roster of Kameo fighters that can perform a variety of assist attacks to aid the player in their combos or defense. While I personally enjoy the Kameo system quite a bit, I thought it would make for an interesting discussion today to compare it to another 2D fighting game that had this sort of mechanic nearly 25 years prior, this game had Kameos before Mortal Kombat 1?!?
