Sorry, I have been unable to post a video for a while, but I am now able to do so. This episode is part one of a short series on Tisbury In Wiltshire. The Saxon charters are good along the river Nadder and so I were excited to do this one. So, where we left off in this area last time was the search for the Graegan Stan in the charter of Ditchampton, less than a mile from Wilton. We now move west down the river Nadder to Tisbury (something like 10 miles). Tisbury is an estate in Saxon times & a civil parish now. But during the Middle Ages and up until only a few years ago it was the village attached to the estate of Wardour castle which was owned up until 10 years ago by the Earls of arundel. The charter of Tisbury is confirmed by the charters of Fonthill & Swallowcliff which share some of the same ancient landmarks. My videos are about history & walks in the country especially looking at the landscape through the lens of Saxon charters. There is also wildlife and on this video a family of goldfinches. #historywalks #archaeology #oldenglishcharters #ancienthistory
