The Romanze begins calmly. The piano sings a melody so plain it seems remembered rather than written, and the orchestra merely repeats it, confirming under its breath something it already knew. The serenity is brief: a whirlwind in G minor breaks into the center of the movement, triplets tumbling over one another, and when the theme returns it no longer sounds the same. Mozart does not erase the storm; he leaves it remembered. True calm, he seems to say, exists only after one has seen what lies beneath.
Twelve-year-old pianist Wilson Liu, a Juilliard Pre-College student and 2026 Cleveland International Competition winner, joins the Borinquen Sinfonietta under Emanuel Olivieri at the orchestra's inaugural concert, recorded September 13, 2026, at the Sala Sinfónica of the Centro de Bellas Artes in Santurce, Puerto Rico.
