A full day of plane-spotting with a good friend George, who really wanted to see the British Airways retro BA100 liveried aircraft that were all LHR based, so a very early start from Coventry to LHR.
LHR has an awkward relationship to aviation enthusiasts, they DON'T want them near the airport! So a full days spotting here is almost impossible unless you want to waste a fortune finding somewhere you are legally allowed to park...
Due to my job, I had a contact that I delivered to, and they allowed me to use their private car park on the weekends if pre-warned, so guess where I headed...... even better as the runways in use were the 09s...
As it was I found a spot outside their buildings that were suitable so a great couple of hours were spent here.
Then I got bored so decided that George needed some exec-jet action, so off to Farnborough Airport we went. Less than 45 minutes later we were at the spotters accepted location at Eelmore Bridge, for a couple of hours biz jet spotting, until I decided (yet again) that some GA was needed, so off to Blackbushe Airfield was the next port-of-call, but soon as we had walked the walk, we jumped in the car for another GA field.
White Waltham Airfield never fails to impress even if the 'management' couldn't supply a guide for a hangar tour, the open grass allows suitable scope for photography and there is allows a surprise out on the grass.
Finally time to drive home, but I had one more airfield I wanted to show George.
Hinton-in-the-Hedges is a very small airstrip that holds a pleasant number of GA and a New Zealand para-drop specialist aircraft.... The PAC-750, the pilot of which allowed George to climb onboard whilst he taxied down to the next load of jumpers were waiting.
Another aircraft here is an example of the largest single engined bi-plane. The Antonov An-2, where the owner had just flown a circuit check-flight but allowed us full access to look inside , which my companion couldn't contain his excitment as he jumped into the front seats.
Once he had calmed down we thanked everyone and drove home....
over 600 images make up this video, so it takes some time to watch,
THANKS for staying this long, I hope you enjoyed this video, as I am posted more weekly.
