Artificial Intelligence is already commonplace in our lives, from social media algorithms to spell checks to voice assistants. AI has the potential to provide support for learning and creativity in the classroom and at home. For example, Generative AI, a type of AI that generates content based on patterns in existing data is becoming widely used for activities such as writing, video and image creation, and research. While there are benefits to the advancement of AI, there are risks that we need to be aware of. For example, AI can be used to generate harmful and inappropriate content such as more sophisticated online scams and false information (including images and videos). It can also make mistakes and it is important to double check information generated by AI and use critical thinking skills. It’s important to stay aware of advancements in technology and have continued safety conversations with your child. This video is part of the Meet LEO educational series. Kids, families, parents and guardians use the internet everyday to work, play, study, create, and find answers to questions. And when they do, they want to do so confidently and safely. Meet LEO is a training-of trainers program developed by Google. The aim of Meet LEO is to build the capacity of educators and practitioners to train parents and guardians on three overarching topics about life online.
