Sigmar Polke | Introduction video | De Pont Museum

Taking Sigmar Polke’s radical experiments with colour in the 1980s as its point of departure, the exhibition Sigmar Polke – The Knowledge of Colours 2026 explores the astonishing intensity and beauty of his paintings, and the continual transformations of material and meaning embedded within them. Developed in collaboration with the Anna Polke Foundation, the exhibition brings together more than fifty works spanning the 1980s to the late 2000s. Alongside ensembles from Dutch museum collections, shown together for the first time, the exhibition includes major loans from private and museum collections in Germany, France and the United Kingdom, among others.
