For the second day in a row, Shadow & Kaydee were heard with some beautiful morning chortles. They were far away in the distance but you could still make out Shadow's snortles & Kaydee's chortles together. Later in the morning, a bald eagle visitor appears on the nest. This looks just like the unbanded visitor from Oct 24th! The BAEA (bald eagle) looks around the nest, moves a stick and hops up on the back porch to give us some cute head tilts and closeups. The visitor then spent some preening - feeling comfortable on the nest. The visitor does a big full body rouse and will make high pitched calls & looks around at something before heading back to the nest and to the front porch. The visitor takes off to the right after spotting something. Shadow & Kaydee have not made a nest appearance so far today but that is not unusual. They are still very active in Big Bear and are hanging out together. So why are they not visiting the nest tree anymore or sleeping in the Roost Tree? Kaydee's arrival and fascination with the nest kept Shadow around the nest and territory more than he usually would in an off season with Jackie. In fact, in October 2025, Jackie & Shadow spent ONLY 5 nights in the Roost Tree. And they were not around the nest much at all. In November 2025, Shadow began to bring sticks to the nest! We are still in the off season and the eagles are taking this remaining time flying around the lake and other areas of interest in Big Bear. As the season's daylight photoperiod changes, so will the eagles hormones trigger nesting behavior to begin. There are still visiting eagles in the area and although Shadow & Kaydee have grown closer over the summer months they are still not considered a bonded couple. That will occur with the beginning of nestorations and mating and Kaydee laying her first eggs. So sit back, enjoy the chortles and whatever else the new day will bring for Big Bear Lake. Trust the eagles! LADY HAWK'S STICK & FLUFF COUNT: Shadow - 1 stick Kaydee - 9 Sticks + 1 fluff Thank you for watching!
