*DIY Concrete Pour... Did I Do ANYTHING Right?* After FOUR YEARS of dreaming about this project, it's finally CONCRETE DAY! But after weeks of demolition, building forms, installing electrical conduit and preparing everything for the concrete truck, there's one question left... *DID I DO ANYTHING RIGHT?!?* Welcome back to Sam's Doing Stuff! Today we're pouring concrete for three major improvements around my barns: a new concrete ramp, a raised loading dock and a badly needed repair to the concrete floor inside my barn. The concrete ramp is the project I'm most excited about. It'll connect the concrete areas between my barns, allowing me to move equipment, firewood baskets and materials from one building to another without driving through mud or snow. That's going to make a HUGE difference in my firewood operation, especially during winter! The new loading dock is another game changer. Built to match the height of my dump trailer, it'll allow me to back right up and load firewood baskets, equipment and other heavy materials directly into the trailer. But there's one BIG concern... *WILL MY HOMEMADE CONCRETE FORMS HOLD?!?* I've spent days building and reinforcing the loading dock forms with pressure-treated lumber, steel reinforcement and anchors into the existing concrete. Some viewers thought I was overbuilding everything. Others were convinced it would never work. Well, once the concrete starts flowing, it's TOO LATE NOW! Fortunately, I've got an incredible crew helping me. Adam from **Hometown Acres**, Zach, my brothers John and Chris, and my nephew Scott all show up to help tackle this unusual concrete pour. And believe me, this is NOT your typical flat concrete slab! We've got multiple elevations, a sloped concrete ramp, a raised loading dock, awkward angles and a concrete floor repair inside the barn. Getting everything to line up and finish properly takes some serious teamwork. You'll see the entire process, including: Final concrete preparation and reinforcement The concrete truck arriving and unloading Filling and vibrating the loading dock forms Pouring and shaping the sloped concrete ramp Repairing the uneven concrete floor inside the barn Screeding, leveling and finishing the concrete Working through the unexpected challenges of a complicated DIY concrete project And when everything is finished, I can hardly believe the results! This project means more to me than simply pouring concrete. I've imagined these improvements since we moved here four years ago. Being able to work between the barns on solid concrete, load my dump trailer more efficiently and keep my firewood business operating through mud season and winter is going to change how I use this property. There's also a personal payoff I'm especially excited about. My daughter is going to LOVE having a smooth concrete surface to ride her tricycle on! I can't thank Adam, Zach, John, Chris and Scott enough for making this happen. I may have designed and built the forms, but their experience, hard work and willingness to help made this project possible. *Sometimes the best part of a DIY project isn't what you build. It's the people who help you build it.* Thanks for watching Sam's Doing Stuff! Whether it's firewood production, tractors, heavy equipment, barn improvements or tackling DIY projects that are probably a little bigger than I should attempt, there's always something happening around here. And stay tuned, because once this concrete cures, we're finally going to put that new ramp and loading dock to work!
