What 4 Football Games Taught Me About Sports Videography | Canon R6V

Over the last few weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to photograph and film four different high school football games, and every game taught me something a little different. In this video, I wanted to talk about some of those experiences—what I liked about the photos and video I captured, some things I would do differently, and how my approach has changed from one game to the next. I also get into the equipment I’ve been using, how I balance shooting photos and video during the same game, and a few things I’ve figured out simply from spending more time on the sidelines. I’m still learning every time I go out there, and that’s really what this video is about. Looking back at the last four games, seeing where I’ve improved, recognizing where I still have some work to do, and enjoying the process along the way. If you shoot sports—or you’re thinking about getting into sports photography or videography—I’d love to hear how you approach it. Drop a comment and let me know what you’re shooting with and what you’ve learned along the way. 🎥 Gear Used to Film This Video Camera: Canon EOS R6 V Lens: Canon RF 35mm F1.4 L VCM 🏈 Game Day Gear Cameras: Canon EOS R6 V Canon EOS R3 Lenses: Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L USM — Version I Canon RF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM Canon RF 85mm F1.4 L VCM Canon RF 35mm F1.4 L VCM Support: iCobra Monopod 🎞️ Dehancer I’ve also been using Dehancer as part of my color grading process.
