Have you ever wondered why you keep finding yourself in the same place, fighting the same battles, dealing with the same habits, fears, and struggles?
Sometimes the problem isn’t that God hasn’t set us free. Sometimes we’ve been delivered, but we’re still thinking like we’re in bondage.
In Numbers 14, Israel had been freed from Egypt, but when they saw the giants standing between them and the promise, they wanted to go back. Egypt was behind them, but the mentality Egypt created was still inside of them.
Then in Deuteronomy 2, after years of wandering, God finally says, “You have been traveling around this mountain country long enough. Turn northward.”
In Part 1 of our new series, Breaking the Cycle, we’re talking about the things that get passed from generation to generation that were never supposed to become traditions.
Some things are worth preserving.
Some things are worth passing down.
And some things need to end with you.
Maybe it’s fear. Maybe it’s anger. Maybe it’s unforgiveness, family dysfunction, unhealthy relationships, addiction, financial habits, or simply a way of thinking that has kept your family circling the same mountain for generations.
The question is: What has God called you to possess that you haven’t stepped into because you’ve been stuck in a cycle?
Joshua and Caleb saw the same giants everybody else saw, but they refused to have the same response. Caleb was ready to fight those giants at 85 years old, and Joshua eventually declared, “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
That’s what a cycle breaker sounds like.
You may have inherited it, but you don’t have to pass it down.
You’ve been around this mountain long enough.
It’s time to break the cycle.
Scripture: Deuteronomy 2:1–3 • Numbers 14 • Joshua 14 • Joshua 24:15
