Podcast 86: Many Teachers Are Just Not Smart Enough

The field of education has big problems, as was made clear in the tragic events at Cambridge last week. But as I’ve said many times before, DEI and specious scholarship are only part of it. There is an underlying fact that few want to admit: many who go into education are simply not smart enough. GRE scores provide clear data, and anecdotes abound showing the lack of knowledge and skills of many of our nation’s teachers. So, why are we placing people in positions of intellectual leadership—over our children, for crying out loud—when they aren’t qualified? This might be an episode that pushes people’s buttons, but I’m ready for the backlash. After 25 years in this business, I’m ready for anything. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
