"FREDDY’S BACK" stars Michael Leavy (Terrifier, STREAM) as 'Freddy Krueger' alongside Allison Pittel (Screamboat) as 'Natalie', in an original nightmare sequence that puts Leavy beneath the fedora and into full Freddy prosthetics for the first time. The short was created to answer the question at the center of the growing fan campaign: What would Michael Leavy’s Freddy Krueger actually look and feel like on screen? "FREDDY’S BACK" was created in response to #LeavyForKrueger, a fan-driven campaign calling for actor and filmmaker Michael Leavy (Terrifier, STREAM) to be considered for the role of Freddy Krueger in a future "A Nightmare on Elm Street" project. The campaign started gaining momentum then exploded online after Leavy shared videos showcasing his interpretation of Freddy’s voice, mannerisms and personality while wearing the iconic fedora, striped sweater and bladed glove. The videos quickly went viral, igniting an online response that has continued to grow, with fans sharing and reposting the performances and images, spreading #LeavyForKrueger across social media and urging the powers that be, including Warner Brothers, New Line Cinema and Paramount—to consider Leavy for the role of Freddy Krueger in a future A Nightmare on Elm Street project. The movement has since grown beyond the original videos. A fan-created Change.org petition has surpassed 3,000 signatures, while performers from the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise and members of the wider horror and entertainment community have shown support and joined the conversation, including Lisa Wilcox, Ira Heiden, Monica Keena, Lochlyn Munro, Barbara Crampton, Felissa Rose, James “Murr” Murray, Brian “Q” Quinn, Jon Abrahams, Brett Wagner, Mark Holton and others. There’s also a unique connection between Michael Leavy and the man who made Freddy Krueger an icon. Earlier in his career, Leavy portrayed a younger version of Robert Englund’s character in the 2014 horror film Fear Clinic due not only to his acting ability but also to his striking resemblance to Englund. As #LeavyForKrueger continued to spread, one request from fans kept appearing again and again: “Put him in the makeup.” So we did. The result is a love letter to Freddy Krueger, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and the fans who have kept the dream alive.
