How did Tazmaniac become the most feared champion in ECW? This is the reinvention of Taz. I'm Danny Deathwish — I study the violence. In this History of Hardcore episode, I break down how Taz went from the cartoonish Tazmaniac to The Human Suplex Machine, the shoot-style destroyer who ran through ECW and created the FTW Championship before capturing the ECW World Heavyweight Championship. We cover the early WWF and ECW run as Tazmaniac, the neck injury that forced a rethink, Paul Heyman's repackaging, the orange-and-black suplex machine era, the legendary feuds with Sabu, Shane Douglas and Bam Bam Bigelow, and why those wrestling highlights still hit harder than almost anything today. If you love hardcore wrestling and wrestling documentary storytelling, this is the turning point that made Taz an ECW icon. This is Part 1 — The Rise — of my 4-part Taz series: The Rise, The Feuds, Biggest Moments, and Farewell. Next up is The Feuds. Leave me a comment. Let me know — what was Taz's most dominant moment? And subscribe because you don't want to miss the next part. More History of Hardcore on Danny Deathwish every Friday. #ECW #Taz #HardcoreWrestling
