Dinosaur Planet: The N64 Game That Became Star Fox Adventures

Star Fox Adventures started life as Dinosaur Planet, a completely different Nintendo 64 game with completely different characters. Why Rare's only GameCube game reached the UK two months after Rare had stopped being a Nintendo studio. #GameCube #StarFox #RetroGaming Star Fox Adventures came out on the Nintendo GameCube in 2002, developed by Rare in Leicestershire and published by Nintendo, and it was the last game Rare ever made for a Nintendo home console. It began as Dinosaur Planet, an original Rare project for the Nintendo 64 starring Sabre and Krystal, while Nintendo's own team in Kyoto were separately working on a stalled Star Fox follow-up that put Fox on foot. Shigeru Miyamoto, producing both, moved them to the GameCube and merged them into one game. The PAL version reached the UK in late November 2002, two months after Microsoft completed its purchase of Rare, and the box still carries the Rare name.
