IT'S HORRIBLE."—the second part of the ongoing Deme drama following the explosive document released by her former boyfriend. This time, we finally get Deme's response. And according to the material discussed in the video, instead of clearing things up, her response creates even more questions. One of the most frustrating parts is that Deme appears to acknowledge a number of the incidents and behaviors described in the original allegations while simultaneously trying to shift responsibility back onto her boyfriend. And that's where the argument becomes difficult to follow. If you admit that something happened, you can't simply make the entire problem disappear by saying that the other person somehow caused you to do it. Your partner isn't responsible for your choices. You're responsible for your own actions. That's especially important in a relationship as dysfunctional as the one described in the original document. The fact that both people may have behaved badly doesn't magically erase individual responsibility. Someone else's mistakes don't become an excuse for your own. The boyfriend's response to Deme's response also adds another layer to the story. Rather than simply moving on, both sides are now publicly disputing each other's version of events, with screenshots, messages, and competing interpretations being dragged into the public sphere. And this is exactly why these situations become such a disaster online. Every new response creates another response. Every accusation produces another counter-accusation. Every screenshot becomes a new argument. At some point, the internet stops trying to understand what happened and starts watching two people litigate their relationship in public. That doesn't mean the allegations should be ignored. It means we should be extremely careful about separating admissions, disputed claims, interpretations, and things that have actually been independently established. What I find most frustrating about Deme's response, based on what Tectone discusses, is the apparent refusal to simply take responsibility for her own behavior. You can acknowledge that someone else treated you badly. You can explain why you were angry. You can describe the circumstances surrounding an incident. But none of that automatically excuses abusing another person. In this video, I react to Tectone's coverage, go through Deme's response and her former boyfriend's follow-up, and discuss why taking responsibility matters when relationships become this toxic. Because "they made me do it"... ...isn't accountability.
