From forgotten dirt ovals to speedways swallowed by time, Indiana’s racing history is far bigger than most people realize. The Hoosier State is the birthplace of American motorsports, and according to Allen E. Brown’s History of America’s Speedways, more than 280 motorsports venues have existed across Indiana. Today, many of those tracks have vanished without a trace. In this episode of Buju Bullring, we visit three forgotten speedways from northwest Indiana: 🏁 Savage Speedway (Gary, IN) 🏁 Bass Lake Speedway (Pulaski County, IN) 🏁 Roby Speedway (Whiting, IN) Through newspaper archives, aerial imagery, and the stories left behind, we explore the history of these long-lost bullrings and remember the racers, promoters, and communities that once called them home. Because racetracks don’t just disappear… they’re forgotten. If you enjoy forgotten speedways, racing history, local short track racing, and preserving motorsports history, be sure to subscribe for more documentaries, interviews, and stories from America’s bullrings. 📍 Which lost Indiana racetrack should I cover next?
