American Gothic in Modern Culture (Please read the Description for Content Warning)

First off: Apologies for the terrible ring light glare! In which we discuss NIGHTMARE ON MAIN STREET by Prof. Mark Edmundson (WARNING: brief mentions of abuse and BDSM as topics. Nothing graphic, but they are themes explored in Edmundson's book) and THE SPITE HOUSE by Johnny Compton. (Some mild spoilers in the video) One of the cleanest horror books that I have ever read that still managed to disturb me. I deliberately did not talk about something VERY relevant to the story that is revealed early on, because I want readers to make that discovery on their own.
