Not In My Constituency Engagement Meeting Highlights

In a major step toward protecting adolescent girls and ending child marriage, UNFPA Zimbabwe, in collaboration with the National AIDS Council (NAC) and the Parliament of Zimbabwe, convened a high-level two-day engagement and sensitization meeting from for Members of Parliament. The meeting brought together over 40 Members of Parliament (MPs), key government ministries, traditional leaders, civil society organizations, and youth representatives to begin engagements on the "Not-In-My-Constituency" (NiMC) campaign - a strategic initiative designed to bridge national policy frameworks with community-level enforcement by empowering lawmakers as frontline advocates for adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). The NiMC initiative builds upon the success of the youth-led, community-driven "Not-In-My-Village" (NiMV) campaign, spearheaded by the Young People’s Network on Health and Wellbeing with support from UNFPA and NAC. While NiMV activated grassroots action at the village level, NiMC seeks to establish a vital bridge between legislative authority, budget allocation, and customary governance.
