What happens when menopause stops being treated as a women’s issue — and starts being treated as a workplace issue? Episode Two of It Starts With People is now live. Our guest is Helen Tomlinson — the UK Government’s first Menopause Employment Champion, an award-winning advocate and one of the most influential voices in the conversation around menopause in the workplace. In this episode, Helen joins host Chris Worts for an open and deeply human conversation about what menopause can really mean for women at work — and why education cannot stop with the women experiencing it. They talk about leadership. Allyship. The role of men. The impact menopause can have at home and at work. And why creating genuine change requires far more than simply having a menopause policy sitting on a company intranet. One of the themes that really stayed with me is the ripple effect of education. When someone learns about menopause at work, that understanding doesn't stay in the workplace. It goes home. To wives and partners. To mums, sisters and friends. And for men, into their roles as husbands, partners, sons, brothers, fathers, colleagues and leaders. But the ripple travels the other way too. What happens at home doesn't magically disappear when somebody walks through the workplace door. Sleep. Concentration. Confidence. Relationships. Wellbeing. People don't leave their lives at reception when they arrive at work. That is exactly why we created It Starts With People. Because behind every business, every policy and every workplace decision are real people. SERIES ONE: MENOPAUSE AND THE WORKPLACE Through open, honest conversations with senior leaders from business, employment law and HR, we're exploring menopause, women's health, leadership, workplace culture, employment law and genuine allyship. These aren't conversations about ticking boxes. They're about understanding people's experiences, challenging outdated thinking and creating meaningful change.
