The United States’ largest trade deal — the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) — is up for mandatory review. This moment offers a critical opportunity to rethink how global trade impacts our food systems, family farmers, and rural communities. In this special briefing, we'll explore how trade rules have allowed agribusiness profits to soar while small farmers and working families continue to struggle — and what we can do about it in the USMCA negotiations. We'll be joined by Jordan Treakle of the National Family Farm Coalition to learn how trade rules can be rewritten to prioritize family farmers and communities over corporate profit. We’ll discuss the need for fair, stable prices for independent family farmers, transparent markets that let consumers know where their food comes from, and the right of every country to define its own food and agricultural policies free from harmful corporate influence. https://tradejusticeedfund.org/ #USMCA #NAFTA #food #trade #fairtrade #freetrade #farms
