Integrating AI into Teaching and Learning: Success, challenges, and reflections | Dr. Matthew Voice

During our webinar series on Showcasing AI in Education, we invite colleagues from universities worldwide to share how they are creatively integrating AI into their teaching and learning practice. In this clip from episode 2 (recorded in September 2026), we are joined by Dr. Matthew Voice, Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in Applied Linguistics at Warwick University, UK . Dr. Voice has been very active in experimenting with AI in education, first for formative assessment and now he is using AI to address possible decline in student preparation and a growing tendency to rely on AI-generated summaries of readings. He deliberately integrates AI into pre-tutorial work by asking students to generate and critically compare AI reading summaries with the original texts, helping them reflect on what may be gained or lost through AI use while strengthening critical thinking and engagement with the material.
