Ammonia spiked to 5ppm with my livestock! how as a beginner i dealt with this!

This was an absolute worst-case scenario for my first saltwater aquarium! My ammonia spiked to a lethal 5ppm while there was livestock inside the TMC First Wave 78L tank. As a complete beginner to the marine hobby, hitting a 5ppm ammonia spike with live animals is terrifying.
