The battle for the 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh on October 16 has taken a dramatic turn. While the Samajwadi Party has chosen not to field a third candidate—seemingly conceding an uncontested route—political observers view this silence as a calculated strategic maneuver by Akhilesh Yadav. While the BJP comfortably holds the numbers for 7 seats and the SP for 2, the high-stakes contest centers on the BJP's 8th candidate. In the backdrop of the 2024 Lok Sabha shifts across Purvanchal, equations within the NDA alliances face critical scrutiny. Speculation surrounding SBSP MLA Abbas Ansari, potential cross-voting, abstentions, and covert factional discontent have turned this quiet election into a tense showdown.
