It has been twenty years since Thomas the Tank Engine's first feature length movie, 'Thomas and the Magic Railroad', came out in cinemas, and to mark that occasion, I have made this video featuring the six Sodor steam engines that feature in the film (Thomas, Henry, Gordon, James, Percy and Toby) running on my layout with the trains they pull in 'Thomas and the Magic Railroad' (some of the trains may not be 100% accurate to the ones pulled in the film though, I must inform you). Bertie the Bus and Harold the Helicopter are in this video since they too feature in the film, Lorry 2 (one of the Horrid Lorries) and Butch the breakdown vehicle are in this video too since they make cameo appearances in the film, and George the Steamroller is also in this video since he was meant to feature in the film as one of Diesel 10's henchmen alongside Splatter and Dodge (George's role was dropped in later scripts for the film as his model was never brought to Toronto in Canada for filming. The Sodor scenes in 'Thomas and the Magic Railroad' were filmed in Toronto, and filming for the film also took place on the Strasburg Railroad in Strasburg in Pennsylvania in the USA and on the Isle of Man. Castletown railway station (on the Isle of Man Steam Railway) was used as Shining Time Station in the film, Port St. Mary goods shed (also on the Isle of Man Steam Railway) was used as Burnett Stone's workshop in the film, and one of the Strasburg Railroad's locomotives, No.475, was used in the film as the Rainbow Sun, the steam locomotive driven by Billy Twofeathers). Edward makes three appearances in this video. Yes, I know he isn't in 'Thomas and the Magic Railroad', but the first feature length 'Thomas the Tank Engine' film not featuring the character that started the entire 'Thomas the Tank Engine' franchise just doesn't seem right (Edward was the first character introduced in 'The Railway Series' and therefore the character that started the entire 'Thomas the Tank Engine' franchise), and for that reason, I think Edward should have featured in the film, even if he just made a cameo appearance or two in it! Anyway, hope you enjoy this video, viewers! Sparkle, sparkle, sparkle!
