Northwest Indiana Blackout: Why Battery Backup Matters

On August 11, Northwest Indiana was hit by a powerful storm that caused widespread power outages across the area. For many families, the power stayed out for days. During the blackout, my battery backup system proved just how valuable it could be. I was able to keep essential equipment powered and even help a few of my neighbors by lending them portable battery power so they could keep things like their refrigerators and other necessities running.
