In this episode of "Countryside Walks", I take a 5 mile circular walk incorporating the villages of Stourton Caundle & Purse Caundle (located about 5 miles East of Sherborne). Once again I am accompanied by my Whippet, Fiver. I parked my car at Stourton Caundle & started off with a wander through the village. I included a visit to the Church of St Peter & passed by The Trooper Inn & the Manor Farm (once owned by Enid Blyton). Leaving the village, I headed Westwards, past the site that was once the location of a fortified manor house (just a chapel remains). After crossing over a tributary of the Caundle Brook, I headed North West across fields towards Woodrow Farm. I then crossed a minor road and continued to head North alongside Plumley Wood to Clayhanger - where I took a detour North along a road to the village of Purse Caundle. After visiting the church of St Peter at Purse Caundle, I retraced my steps back to Clayhanger and then headed Eastwards towards Manor Farm. I had hoped to take a bridleway Southwards back to Stourton Caundle just before Manor Farm but I missed the turning (full details in the video!). Instead, I continued past Manor Farm & eventually joined a road that took me back South to Stourton Caundle. My final destination was The Trooper Inn at Stourton Caundle where I undertook some "research" ..... quality testing their Otter ale.
