Kathy Bailey is running for West Sacramento City Council, District 4.
She sat down for 76 minutes and took every question: nothing submitted in advance, no handlers, no time limit.
Kathy has worked in the legal field for more than 34 years, most of it in civil litigation downtown. She grew up in Illinois, rented in Land Park for years, and bought a condo off Village Parkway in 2018 after a $700-a-month rent increase pushed her to buy.
For the last six years she's been president of her 252-home HOA, which is how she ended up at the council podium during COVID, and how she ended up sitting out with a flashlight from 1 to 3 a.m. on neighborhood watch after the community's mailboxes kept getting robbed.
We get into why she decided to run, one road out during a flood or fire, the port, civility on the dais, what a part-time council can actually change, public safety, the council vote she'd have cast differently, who's funding her campaign, and where she'd eat if she only got one meal in West Sac.
The West Sac Podcast is a long-form conversation with the people shaping West Sacramento. No endorsements. Every candidate gets the same invitation and the same chair.
