After living in Arizona for 40 years and being a green card holder for 37 years, I never imagined I'd be deported and starting over in my 50's. About 28 years ago, I made mistakes, served my time, and my convictions were expunged in 2007. My green card was renewed three times. In March 2026, I got keys to my new home, then left for my dream trip to Ireland. When I returned to Boston on March 24th, I was taken into ICE custody. I spent 4 days at the airport, then a week inin New Hampshire, and then 3 and a half months in Louisiana. Despite submitting 186 pages of evidence, including letters from community members and organizations I volunteers with, I was ordered deported at my final hearing on June 23rd. An Arizona senator even asked ICE if I could return home to settle my affairs under house arrest. That request was debited. I was eventually deported via Detroit to Windsor. I made my way to Niagara Falls, where my aunt is helping my rebuild. One of the hardest parts was being separated from my dog Tansy. After months of getting and a significant cost, I was finally reunited with him. Meanwhile, my home, vehicles, belongings, and most importantly, my children are still there. This video shares what happened in my own words, with documents and records available, as I try to rebuild in a country I haven't lived in since I was 13 years old.
