18 Holes at The Welcombe Golf Club. Every shot vlog at a super but hilly Stratford parkland course

Every shot from my round at The Welcombe Golf Club, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, on 20th April 2026. 👉 Many more every shot golf vlogs here    • 18 Hole, Every Shot Golf Round Vlogs   As before with Stratford-upon-Avon, I am amazed how many golf courses exist within such a small radius. Obviously with my desire to play and showcase different courses, having so many close together works well and after an enjoyable early morning round nearby, I drove the short distance to The Welcombe Golf Club to explore what it has to offer. Of the courses I've played in the area, this one is certainly the most hilly with it situated at the base of the Welcombe Hills, on the north side of Stratford. The course winds its way around the hotel grounds that are historically linked to the former Welcombe Manor. There are many persistent views up to the Obelisk that stands atop the Welcombe Hills and out over the surrounding Warwickshire countryside. With the rolling land, contours play a major part in the defence of the course and after a flat first hole, the hills start with the pleasant par 3 second hole. A very difficult long par 4 follows but this does at least get you up to get a good vantage point, and is also a good indication of what the course is all about. Good greens await each approach but course management is key here if you are to score well. The fourth hole is a classic example. Drive too far and you'll find yourself down a steep ravine, too short or inaccurate and it's a long difficult approach to a slick green defended with more contours and sand. Many similar choices await you on your round here, from par 3's with seven bunkers around the green, to fully blind downhill dogleg drives, there is plenty of challenge throughout the 18 holes and with my waning energy, the back nine began to take its toll on me. It has great variety but if you are slightly less mobile then a buggy is a sensible choice. This isn't too bad on the budget as the green fees here are good value, especially for a layout of this quality. My only small gripe was the bunkers were a little inconsistent when I played, with some having very little sand but overall I found the course quality to be very good and great value for money. I spoke to a few members on my way round who were friendly but did mention that it can get quite busy at times. I was fortunate and mostly had a quiet round but did notice a group cutting in at one stage. It does have the feel of a good society course but as I've mentioned, it's a great layout and one that possesses a superb variety of holes. The clubhouse was very comfortable indeed and the staff very helpful and welcoming. Easy to get to as well, just factor in the busy Stratford Road and traffic when planning a trip! Certainly a great course to consider and one of many recommendations in the Stratford area.
