Vigilance officials intercepted him near AG Square after tracking his movements. A search of his government vehicle yielded ₹7.28 lakh in cash, gift packets containing dry fruits and a diary. A raid at his Ghatikia flat led to the seizure of over ₹14 lakh more. The total cash seized from the vehicle and residence was ₹21,88,620. According to the report, Das allegedly accepted a bribe at the Jagatpur IB on Friday afternoon. Vigilance officials continued searches through the night and are examining the seized diary and other evidence. Dry-fruit gift packets reportedly carried the names of various individuals, including some political leaders. Das joined the Water Resources Department as an Assistant Executive Engineer in 2016, was promoted in 2022 and became Superintending Engineer of the Mahanadi Northern Division this year. Vigilance is investigating the alleged bribery, the source of the seized cash and possible links to other individuals.
