Diffuse large b-cell lymphoma is the most common form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, which ranks 6th in both men and women when it comes to cancer incidence and mortality (excluding prostate and breast cancer). This can seem like a daunting disease for the medical student or resident to understand, but I try and break it down into manageable pieces here. This video explains the subtypes of DLBCL, including germinal center b-cell type vs activated b-cell type, the basic molecular biology and genetics, including the myc, bcl-2, and bcl-6 genes, and the workup needed to diagnose diffuse large b-cell lymphoma.
