Mombasa Road Is Getting a Major Makeover! NEW Footbridge & Beautiful Pedestrian Walkways

A new pedestrian footbridge along Mombasa Road near Panari Hotel and Subaru Kenya is now taking shape, and in this video I went to see the latest progress for myself. The main structure of the footbridge has already been erected and looks well done. From what I observed on site, the remaining work appears to include finishing and refining sections of the concrete as well as installing the roof/covering that will provide shade for pedestrians. The bridge is intended to provide pedestrians with a safer way to cross this extremely busy section of Mombasa Road instead of having to cross the highway at road level. But the footbridge isn't the only thing changing. I also walked along the newly constructed pedestrian footpaths, including sections featuring tactile paving. These tactile surfaces are particularly important because they provide physical guidance along pedestrian routes and can improve accessibility for people with visual impairments. These improvements form part of the much larger JKIA–ABC Place road rehabilitation, infrastructure and beautification programme being implemented by KeNHA. The project covers approximately 27 kilometres, stretching from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport through Mombasa Road and the Uhuru Highway corridor toward ABC Place in Westlands. � Kenyans +1 The wider programme includes road improvements, capacity enhancement, drainage works, landscaping, beautification, lighting and road-safety improvements.
