Join me as I show you how to travel from Cairns to Thursday Island so that you too can experience the amazing cultural shows, the great artwork, and even tasty coffee that Island Stars have to offer. Let's get going! Make your way to Cairns airport where you can check in to Qantas at Terminal 2. Once you get through security you can spend some time in the departures lounge, or head straight to gate 14 to 16 where you will start boarding. On this flight you will be travelling on a Dash-8 400 series which will take around two (2) hours. So enjoy the view of the Great Barrier Reef before you get to Horn Island. Once you touch down at Horn Island make your way through the terminal where you can pick up your luggage. Then you have a number of options to get to Thursday Island. Island Stars recommends one of the local businesses to get you by bus and boat across to Thursday Island. We're going to catch one of those right now where you can purchase a ticket right outside where you pick up your luggage. The bus ride to the jetty will take only 6 minutes, where you will jump on board the boat for a quick run across to Thursday Island. When you arrive on Thursday Island, Island Stars is just a short easy walk from the jetty. Google Maps can help you find the way and you won't miss it with all of its vibrant art on the building.
