I Bought an Adventure Motorcycle for My 60th Birthday

For my 60th birthday, Carol suggested a massage and a pedicure. I had something else in mind. A motorcycle. Not just any motorcycle. A white BMW F700GS adventure bike, complete with heated handgrips and the promise of exploring a few roads less traveled. Of course, this wasn’t my first motorcycle adventure. There had been dirt bikes, Hawaii, a mother-daughter ride into Mexico, a deer encounter, and a few lessons learned along the way. But turning 60 presented a new opportunity. There was a birthday visit with Mom in New Mexico, a trip through Arizona, a hostel experience that cured me of hostels, and a Colorado mountain road that reminded me that gravity doesn’t negotiate. Somewhere along the way, I discovered that the road didn’t have to end when the pavement did.
