Australian farm life sounded like a great idea… then we realised we had no idea how to farm. Join us in Victoria’s High Country as we swap Melbourne city life for 50 acres, cheeky animals, guest cabins and a new career as a zookeeper. We’re Christie and George, and this is the start of our country living adventure. With our kids grown up, we decided to try something completely different: running The Black Sparrow in Howqua, near Mount Buller and Lake Eildon. Christie landed her dream job working at a zoo, while George is learning everything from mowing lawns to building fences—with a little help from YouTube. In our first farm vlog, we’ll show you around the property, introduce our alpacas and horses, and give you a taste of what we’ve signed ourselves up for. There are cabins to look after, guests arriving, trees to tackle and animals who seem determined to keep us on our toes. Even the tennis court comes with a few surprises. The mountain views and sunsets are pretty special, but we’re quickly discovering how much work goes into looking after a property this size. We’ve got plenty to learn, and we’re taking you along as we figure it out. Subscribe to follow our move from Melbourne to the country, more Australian farm adventures and Christie’s life as a zookeeper. What’s the first thing you’d learn if you suddenly had 50 acres to look after?
