Hello! I just wanted to share my thoughts regarding some Yasuo mains that I've encountered recently, about the importance of teamplay and how much difference one makes in teamfights if they group up.
Split pushing is sometimes important, but it decreases your chances of winning if you keep doing it without vision of the enemy team and/or if you're not tracking their movements.
Permanently split pushing the entire match, hoping that your team might win the 4v4 or the 4v5 the whole match, is not a good idea.
Before you can even begin to think about 'splitting' the entire match, you have to consider your team composition and the enemy one's.
If you think that your team cannot win the 4v4/5, then YOU MUST group and on the flipside, if you know your team can handle themselves pretty well without you, then yes, you permanently push the side lanes.
Now, why is this all important? Because, the Yasuo players that I usually meet and that are GENUINELY good with the champion, tend to try way too hard to push the side lanes, and end up amassing tons of unnecessary deaths and it also tends up to become a losing match, just because the rest of the team is constantly lacking one extra member, specially in teamfights.
It used to be that, split pushing was incredibly easy and strong, because, Turrets in the past, have been known for being particularly weak. After the initial first turret is down, pushing down towards the inhibitor felt rather easy, specially if you were playing champions like Sion and Yorick. Nowadays? Not so much.
Every tower has platings and extra defences, takes less damage per certain mechanics and etc. The Split Pushing strategy just does not work anymore for the majority of champions, and even if it does, even if you're playing a Nasus with 1000 stacks or something similar that melts turrets, you SHOULD still group with your team in some fights, like Baron, Drake, or even buffs in the Jungle.
All in all, if you are good with a champion, you shouldn't think that you have to carry 4 people, but instead, help alleviate the pressure your team has on them, and carry your and let your teammates carry you to victory.
This is a team's game after all, so play with your team, even if you don't agree with them. That's sportsmanship.
Take care!
